01/2024

The Coriell Institute for Medical Research announces the promotion of Denise Buscher, a longtime member of the Coriell team, as its new Chief Financial Officer.

“It is a real pleasure to announce Denise as the new head of Coriell’s finance department,” said Jean-Pierre Issa, MD, Coriell’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Denise has the experience, the knowledge, and the vision to lead Coriell’s financial future. She has long been a treasured member of the Coriell team and her input as a member of the executive team will be invaluable.”

Buscher has more than 30 years of finance experience, including more than 25 years in the finance department at the Coriell Institute. She began at Coriell as a staff accountant and has climbed in position and responsibility over the years, proving successful at each step. She brings to the position expertise earned through many years of overseeing financial compliance with groups such as the National Institutes of Health and the Internal Revenue Service.

“The Coriell Institute occupies a very special place in my heart. It is a one-of-a-kind organization with not only a mission critical to the success of science around the world but it also has the talented and dedicated team it needs to succeed in that mission each day,” Buscher said. “I am proud to accept the Chief Financial Officer role and will work hard to ensure Coriell’s long legacy of success.”

Buscher has served as Coriell’s interim Chief Financial Officer since the departure of Coriell’s previous CFO, Dean Stoios, over the summer.
