The Team

Xiaoxin Luke Chen, MD, PhD

Professor

Along with my team, I am investigating molecular mechanisms and targeted therapy of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Our long-term goal is to develop NRF2 inhibitors for targeted therapy of human ESCC carrying NRF2 mutations and “benign cell boosters” to prevent ESCC in high-risk patients.

Before Coriell, I was the Glaxo Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Science at the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI), North Carolina Central University (NCCU), and Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH).

I received my medical training at Peking University Health Science Center of China and first worked as a research assistant and resident orthopedic surgeon before earning my PhD in Biochemistry from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. My postdoctoral training was also completed at Rutgers University.
