Roland Schwarting, MD

Roland Schwarting, MD, is the professor and chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cooper University Hospital, where he also serves on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Schwarting also holds academic appointments with Rowan University and Robert Wood Johnson University in New Brunswick.

Prior to coming to Cooper, Dr. Schwarting held academic appointments at Thomas Jefferson University for many years.

Dr. Schwarting received his medical degree at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel, Germany and completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the Free University of Berlin. His research fellowship was conducted at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Schwarting belongs to several scientific and honorary societies, including the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathology. He is president of the South Jersey Society of Pathology.
