Remarks |
Line NOU-1. Derived from a patient presenting with weight loss, diminishing appetite, and vaginal bleeding. Endometrial sampling revealed endometrial adenocarcinoma. Donor died one month later of metastatic cancer. Using explants of minced endometrial tumor tissue, this poorly differentiated epithelial adenocarcinoma cell line was initiated on 8/19/91. Prior to submission the karyotype was 46,XX. To confirm the character of the tumor grown in vitro, the submitter injected the cell line intraperitoneally into a nude mouse. The tumor grown in vivo in the mouse had an identical histology to that of the original tumor and 46,XX chromosome complement. The cell morphology is epithelial-like. CCR analysis of the karyotype indicates that despite significant chromosome instability, the culture remains essentially diploid, 46,XX in 70% of the cells examined. An i(X)(p10) and a del(2)(p24p15) were observed in 4% of cells. Either deletion of 2 or isoX chromosome formation or both appear to recur. Random chromosomal aberrations and chromosome breakage observed in 22% and 20% of cells, respectively. 12% of cells contain random chromosome loss/gain. The PDL of the freeze is unknown. The legacy karyotype description shown in this Remark may not be representative of the current available product. |
