Thoroughbred horse. The aorta was removed 2 hours post-mortem on 11/5/84. Strips of the medial layer were removed, minced, and used as explants to initiate the culture. Cell morphology is fibroblast-like and the cells form layered sheets at post-confluence. The karyotype is 64,XX; normal diploid female. The culture tested positive for alpha-smooth muscle actin and negative for the endothelial cell-specific von Willebrand factor (immunofluorescence assays). A skin fibroblast culture from this horse is AG07906. The legacy karyotype description shown in this Remark may not be representative of the current available product. |
