The fat tissue was removed from the subject's abdomen and waist ante-mortem during elective cosmetic tumescent liposuction on 10/11/02. This primary culture was initiated on 10/11/02 by collagenase digestion of fat tissue. Donor subject weighed 164 lbs (74.3 kgs) at the time of the procedure. This culture tested negative for the endothelial cell-specific von Willebrand factor, negative for alpha-smooth muscle actin and positive for Cy3/Vimentin (immunofluorescence assays). 47% of the cells observed at passage 5 showed adipogenic differentiation.
