Remarks The donor had a history of dementia with a gradual decline in mental function since age 68 years. Autopsy of brain revealed neuritic plaques, neurons with 'tangles' and the granulovacuolar change of Simcowicz consistent with Alzheimer's disease. Indications of Parkinson's disease were also found including degeneration of the substantia nigra and locus coeruleus and neurons with Lewy bodies. The biopsy was taken post-mortem on 6/9/85. The culture was initiated using explants of minced skin tissue. The cell morphology is fibroblast-like. The karyotype is 46,XY; normal diploid male with 6% of the cells examined showing random chromosome loss. A lymphoblast culture from same donor is AG08244. The legacy karyotype description shown in this Remark may not be representative of the current available product.
