In Depth DNA Discovery
The Coriell Institute Cytogenetics Laboratory is a state-of- the-art facility performing conventional and molecular cytogenetic analyses on various cell types from a range of species (human, mouse, rat, chimpanzee, canine, etc). The laboratory is equipped with a network of CytoVision™ Image Analysis and Capturing Systems used to perform G-banded karyotyping and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH).
Detailed analyses of genome-wide unbalanced chromosomal aberrations, such as copy number variations (CNVs) and loss of heterozygosity (LOH) or long contiguous stretches of homozygosity (LCSHs), are performed using the Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 6.0, in collaboration with Coriell’s Genotyping and Microarray Center.
- G-banded karyotype analysis
- FISH analysis including probe design and validation
- Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 6.0
- Application of cytogenetic/cytogenomic services for stem cell studies and transgenics quality control
- Protocol Design: optimization to ensure each custom service is performed to highest research standards
What is Cytogenetics?
Cytogenetics is an exciting, dynamic field of study which analyzes the number and structure of human and animal chromosomes. [ Learn More › ]
Karyotype analysis is a laboratory technique where the chromosomes from one cell are visualized under a microscope to investigate the total number and structure of the chromosomes. [ Learn More › ]
Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization (FISH)
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) detects the presence, copy numbers and/or location of a DNA sequence within a set of metaphase chromosomes or an interphase nucleus. [ Learn More › ]
Array-based comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) is a powerful tool for chromosomal and genomic studies. [ Learn More › ]
Application of Our Services
Since 1999, the Coriell Cytogenetics Laboratory has analyzed thousands of human and mouse embryonic stem cell (ESC) lines and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines for researchers in academia, pharmaceuticals, and beyond. [ Learn More › ]
Working with Coriell
Most researchers will find out that their needs are met by adapting one of our standard protocols or a combination of existing procedures. [ Learn More › ]
